Parker®...some interesting information:
Having some prior sales experience with another pen company, George Parker, the founder, received his first fountain pen patent in 1889. In 1894 Parker received a patent on his "Lucky Curve" feed [was supposed to draw excess ink back into the pen body when the pen wasn't in use]. This "Lucky Curve" type of feed was used in various forms until 1928.
Quink "quick drying ink" was developed by Parker in 1931. This ink advancement eliminated the need for blotting and led to the development of the most widely used model of fountain pen in history the Parker 51. Manufacturing for Parker went worldwide. Parker pens were frequently selected to sign important documents such as the World War II armistices and the like.
In 1993 Parker was acquired by the Gillette Company, which already owned the PaperMate brand. Gillette sold the writing instruments division to Newell Rubbermaid in 2000 Newell Rubbermaid's Stationery Division, Sanford, then became the largest in the world owning such brand names as Sharpie, Rotring, Reynolds as well as Papermate, Parker, Waterman and Liquid Paper.
